The lessee and the driver must present a valid driver's license and an identity card or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle.
Driver's licenses from non-EU countries (except Switzerland) are accepted if:
a) no visa has been entered in the passport.
b) the customer has a visa in his passport and at the time of hire has not been in Europe for longer than 6 months. If he has been in Europe for longer than 6 months, he must present a driver's license from an EU country.
Driver's license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an international driver's license.
For driver's licenses from countries not part of the international driver's license treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.
Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 18 years (having held the driver's license for at least 1 day). A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle.
A Young Driver Surcharge of EUR 7.20- per day, max. EUR 72.- applies for drivers under 25 years.
All credit and debit cards of internationally recognised credit card companies (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB and CUP), Airplus and Amex BTA/iBTA, Maestro/VPAY card are accepted as payment methods, whereas all pre-paid cards are not accepted.
The payment method must have been issued in the name of the driver. This must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid for at least one month after the end of the rental. The amount that will be debited includes the rental price as well as all additional extras and charges.
Vehicles from Group P*** and higher as well as Sports & Luxury Cars can only be hired on presentation of a credit/legitimisation document accepted by Sixt. All other vehicle groups as well as convertibles and off-roaders up to and including Group F*** can also be hired on presentation of a debit card or Maestro/VPAY card. Payment with a Maestro/VPAY card is not permitted for long-term rentals.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid means of payment.
Cash Payment is not accepted. Exceptions are valid for assistance rentals
As security, the means of payment is debited with a deposit amount. The amount of the deposit depends on the vehicle group of the rented vehicle and according to the following table:

Prepaid rates are offered at cheaper prices than usual rental contracts. In return for these cheaper prices, the following special features apply with prepaid rates regarding payment and cancellation conditions:
You can change your booking subject to availability for a change fee of 29.99 EUR by using our hotline up to 1 hour before the commencement of the rental or online up to 48 hours before the commencement of the rental. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.
A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental.
In the case of cancellation, the already paid rental pre-payment will be charged, along with a cancellation fee. For reservations with a rental period of up to 3 days, the cancellation fee is 100% of the rental price (including booked extras and fees). For reservations with a rental period of more than 3 days, the level of the cancellation fee depends on the rental price booked (including booked extras and fees), and amounts to 3 rental days pro rata.

In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

The rented vehicle is insured against liability as per usual insurance in Austria as well as with the minimum insurance conditions valid for Austria. The insurance is limited to Europe in a geographical sense.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft (except tire and glass coverage).
If loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) is accepted, the customer is entitled, depending on the vehicle, to a deductible of EUR 600.00 to EUR 5,000.00. In addition, a reduction of the deductible is possible.
In the event of willful or grossly negligent damage caused, a claim on the agreed fully comprehensive cover (incl. theft cover) can be reduced or lapsed.
If no fully comprehensive cover (incl. theft cover) has been arranged, the leaser is responsible for all damage to the car not proven to be caused by a third party, and shall be liable for up to the full value of the vehicle.
By taking out personal accident protection coverage can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.
By taking out personal accident protection the limit of liability is: EUR 50,000.00 for invalidity, EUR 25,000.00 for decease, and EUR 1,000.00 for medical costs.
The tire and glass coverage provides protection for damages on tires, rims, windscreen, side windows and the rear window with a deductible of EUR 0.00.
If no glass and tyre cover has been arranged, the leaser shall be liable for up to the full amount of the damage.
The roadside protection is an extended breakdown protection during the rental and protects you at home and abroad against high service and repair costs for the following incidents caused by you: key locked in vehicle, breaking caused by lack of fuel, assistance with starting necessitated by flat battery, loss of key and vehicle stuck.
All services may only be ordered by a direct claim with Sixt 24-hour Roadside Assistance. They shall also determine the type and extent of service required to ensure the renter stays mobile. If any damage to the rental vehicle occurs which is not covered by Sixt within the scope of the Roadside Protection, the renter is liable for such damage.

The vehicle selection can restrict travel to certain countries. For a description of these restrictions on admission, the countries are divided into three zones.
Zone 1: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finnland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Great Britian, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and Vatican
Zone 2: Croatia*, Czech Republic*, Estonia, Hungary*, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland*, Slovakia* and Slovenia*
Zone 3: All countries which are not in zone 1 or 2.
Passenger cars, offroader/SUV's and convertible of Audi, BMW, MINI, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen cars, offroader/SUV's and convertible are only permitted to enter countries in zone I. Up to and including size XD** (except PT**) vehicles are permitted to enter also countries marked with * in zone II
Passenger cars of all other manufacturers may only enter zones I and II. Offroader/SUV's and convertibles of all other manufacturers are also permitted to enter countries in zone I and those marked with * in zone II.
Trucks, vans, people carriers and minibuses of all brands may only be driven in zones 1 and 2.
Entry into any country in zone 3 is not permitted.
In case of offence against cross border and territorial restrictions all insurances lose their validity.
For travels into Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithunia, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia a charge applies. In case of a one-way rental to one of the above mentioned countries, the foreign use charge applies in addition to the one-way fee.

A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.
Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.
There will be a road tax, which is included in the rent.
A contract fee of 1% of the total net amount will be charged, if the total gross amount of the car rental bill surpasses EUR 150.00.
Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorised Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement.
If your plans change during your hire period, let us know by telephone on +43 (0) 1 505 26 40 00 or in person at any of our numerous stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.
If you shorten your rental contract by at least one billing day, without having let us know, we will only bill you for the days of hire that you actually use, at your chosen tariff, plus EUR 12.00 for the Flexi Return service. Generally, this means that you will be reimbursed by us if you bring the vehicle back early.
When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.
If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you EUR 12.00 service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.
If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of EUR19.99 if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance.
With our Flexi Return guarantee, you will always have maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency when driving.
